Welcome to Travel Things on Point and my first blog post. Let’s start with why ‘Things on Point’. To me, in relation to travel, that means well prepared and organized. As an avid traveler, I love the actual travel and have come to realize that I equally like the planning. I’m always thinking of and researching our next trip.
If you have read my About Me, you will know that I most often travel with my son and my spirited Senior mom who we all call Nana. We are a multi-generational troop which of course leads to varying interests and degrees of abilities.
This blog will focus on planning for family travel with multiple generations including the mobility considerations of a Senior traveler. Particularly for trips abroad, I found there is not often readily available information on accessibility. I’ve had to dig deep and/or converse directly with hotels, museums and attractions from afar during my planning. I will share my research and our experiences to hopefully help others planning similar adventures.
If you are here specifically to read about the low mobility aspect of our travel plans, note that Nana walks with a walker to help her with balance and has a limit to how far she can walk at one time. She can do a small number of stairs if they have a sturdy handrail. Hopefully describing her abilities will give you a frame of reference for comparison when considering the accessibility of any of our trip stops.
Now on to the fun stuff! Adventure on!
